Frequently Asked Questions

Nothing But Clean - Window Cleaning Services has provided window, gutter, and pressure cleaning services in the Dallas/Fort Worth area since 1989. During that time, many customers have asked us the same questions which we would like to share with you along with informative answers:

Should my windows be hand washed? All window cleaning should be done by hand washing. Hand washing is the most thorough way to clean your windows. Hand washing means using a mop and squeegee, having the edges detailed and the tracks washed out with soap and water and not dry brushed out where dust and dirt will fly inside to your floor. Interior lock ledges and window sills should be cleaned after the glass is cleaned. The screens should be removed and cleaned and then replaced.

What if a company uses a water pole or pressure washer on the windows? Using a water pole or pressure washer on windows is a huge mistake. Water poles and pressure washers leave spots on the glass because they do not squeegee the glass clean. Even a purified water system will leave spots. Cleaning in this manner does not remove the screen but uses sprayed water to clean lower parts of windows through the screen and this can damage the screen frame and material.

The pressure from the pole and high pressure water can break thermo seals on double pane insulated glass causing the windows to get foggy over time and costing the client a lot more money in replacing the glass. A company using these systems may charge the same or more than those that hand wash windows but only save themselves time on the job and can cause future expensive window & screen damage.

Is the company bonded & insured?
Any company can say they are insured. The best way to verify if a company is properly insured is to have the insurance company itself directly email or fax you a copy of the certificate it has in place for a company. Be wary of any contractor showing you a document they have on their person.

Does the company have a list of references?
References provided by a contractor are usually quite good because they are hand chosen by the contractor. Legitimate references come from the Better Business Bureau or a rating service like Angie’s List. The contractor or the contractor friends cannot enter his own reviews on these sites. On the other hand, sites like superpages.com, yellowpages.com, yelp.com or citysearch.com take reviews from anyone. These sites are unreliable because a contractor can write as many positive reports for himself as he would like and can also write bogus reports on the competition to make them look bad.

How long has the company been in business?
First, you will be letting strangers into your home. If a company has been in business for a while it is because they know what they are doing. The experience of working with all types of windows and having put in the hours is beneficial to the customer. Be wary of any company that asks you to use your ladders. If they do not have the proper equipment, a uniformed staff, a website, or the truck is lacking company logos, you may want to consider how professional the service will be and how thorough the work will be. Remember, they will be in your home. Repeat business and referrals are what keep good window cleaning companies alive. Do they charge sales tax and how do they accept payment? Check the Better Business Bureau.

Does the pricing seem realistic?
If the price is unrealistically low, who is showing up to your house? Who will be accountable if your home is harmed or something is broken or stolen? It is important to know who will show up at your home and what care has been taken to make sure these are trustworthy individuals. A legitimate company is in business to make you happy and will take responsibility for the work done and respecting your home. Customers ask for uniformed staff, insurance and trucks that have the company logo. The following, along with advertising, phone service, proper truck insurance and other operating costs do affect the price.
